The AGTAG coördinates about 140 antilope species and subspecies, besides the giraffe and okapi. The TAG consists of more than 40 experts from European zoos. Many of those members lead a specific breeding programma for antilopes, giraffes or okapi's. Others are expert in their field, among which nature conservation, animal health and disease, animal nutrition, research and education. The group collectively decides which strategy to follow regarding population management, animal welfare and research within EAZA and which measures to take to safeguard the existance of these types of animals. In order to do all this, an intensive, closed meeting is held every spring.
